The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (Authority or SMCMUA) recently violated a drinking water standard. Although this incident was not an emergency, as SMCMUA customers, you have a right to know what happened and what SMCMUA is doing to correct this situation.

SMCMUA routinely monitors for the presence of drinking water contaminants. Testing results from 1/1/18 – 12/31/18 show that SMCMUA's system exceeds the standard, or maximum contaminant level (MCL), for TTHM. The standard for TTHM is 80 micrograms per liter (ug/L).  Sample location specific compliance with the standard is determined by calculating sample averages for individual sampling locations of the past four (4) quarters (i.e. 12 months).  The TTHM level average at one of SMCMUA's system’s locations for 1/1/18 – 12/31/18 was 80.9 ug/L.

The next sample event was January 2019, where results are available.

There is no additional action necessary on your part.
