Hydrant Flow Information

Flow tests determine the adequacy of pressure and volume of the Authority’s water supply system at a specific location.  To request flow information, download and complete the Flow Request Form.  Please allow a minimum of two (2) weeks for staff to review the information, conduct the test and generate the results.

Please note that the Authority does not conduct flow tests between November 15 and March 15.

 

New Water Service Information

The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (“SMCMUA” or “Authority”) is committed to providing an efficient process for property owners and developers to fulfill their water service needs in accordance with the Authority’s Rules and Regulations, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:14B.

To apply for water service to premises previously supplied by the Authority, contact the Customer Service Department at 973-326-6880 to obtain an Application for Water Service.  Water accounts must be in the property owner’s name, as water charges are attached to the property.  Unpaid water bills are subject to property liens.

To property owners or developers seeking water service to a new building, development or any premises not previously supplied by the Authority, please begin the pre-approval process by completing the Pre-application Form and submitting it along with the technical documents[1] specified to developments@smcmua.org.  Please be advised that incomplete Pre-application Forms and insufficient technical documents will not be reviewed and will be returned to the Applicant[2]Please allow a minimum of two (2) weeks for the Authority to examine the information provided; at which time, the Authority will contact the Applicant to schedule a Preliminary Project Meeting[3]

The Applicant is hereby reminded to check with local, County and State ordinances to ensure information provided complies with the standards mandated.  The Applicant shall be responsible for complying with the standards specified by the Authority set forth in the Technical Requirements.

 

STEP 1:

After Preliminary Project Meeting with the Authority, download, complete and submit applicable forms and pay associated fees. 

 

STEP 2:    

                   

Within the Authority’s District[4]:

Water Service between 3/4" and 2” (Tap)

Water Service 4” or Larger (Wet Cut)

Water Main Extension

 

Outside of the Authority’s District:

Water Service with No New Water Main

Water Service with New Water Main Extension

[1] Technical documents include but are not limited to: Location Plan; Site Utility Plan; Detailed Water Utility Plan; Detailed Water Utility Profile Sheet; Construction Details; and Technical Specifications.

 

[2] Applicant is responsible for applications, fees and any contract agreements with the Authority.

 

[3] The Preliminary Project Meeting with the Authority will include:  the review and provision of detailed information and/or paperwork on any application requirements and associated fees (i.e. application fee, connection fee, tap fee, wet cut fee, etc.); comments on drawings/plans/specifications; flow test information; creation of a construction schedule checklist; review of bond requirements and permits; etc.
